California Lions Camp, also known as Camp Pacifica, was established in 1991 to provide an exciting outdoor experience for hearing-impaired boys and girls, 7-15 years of age. The camp is a 54-acre facility and is in the Sierra Nevada Foothills on Hwy 49 between Mariposa and Oakhurst, CA near the town of Ahwahnee.
Campers enjoy swimming and dancing; they participate in mime and drama. Camp offers field sports, horseback riding, volleyball, archery and a pelle course. The Vince Peraino Education Center, also known as the Mane House, serves as an education center and staff office space.
Camp Pacifica Staff Counselors are fluent in sign language and have experience with children. Many Staff return each year, giving continuity to the returning children who appreciate the low ratio (1-2+) of counselors to campers.
Along with monetary support including Sponsorship and Camperships from Lions Clubs, many clubs also donate their time and talent. Individuals, clubs and other non-profit groups can support California Lions Camp (Camp Pacifica).
California Lions Camp facilities are available for rent to any non-profit group. Please contact the Camp Director Angelica Martinez (559) 373-0961 or email DeafCampPacifica@gmail.com.
